4. What kind of oil should I use?
The type of oil you should use varies by type of engine. Here is a list of oils to use by model name:
MBx10 – A high-quality 10w30 motor oil
MGk10 – A high-quality 10w30 motor oil
MVs10 – This uses a two-stroke oil mixed with the gas to lubricate the engine. Use a high-quality 40:1 ratio 2-stroke oil in your fuel mix.
MVx70 – This has a wet clutch, so it’s best to use a 30 weight non-detergent motor oil.

We have noticed that a few of the fuel caps on the MBx10 have been leaking fuel while operating. The simple fix is to remove the rubber seal inside the cap and locate the foam block inside. The size of that foam block should not be larger than a sugar cube (about 5 centimeters square). You can cut the size of the foam block down with a pair of scissors and re-assemble the cap, which should alleviate the leaking problem. If not, call our Service Department at 888-488-6686 for help.
7. My Motovox was running fine, but now it has no power.
Check to make sure that the choke lever is in the OFF or RUN position. For help locating the choke lever for your model, refer to your Owners Manual or contact our Service Department at 888-488-6686 for help.
Be sure of all the following:
- Is there fuel in the tank?
- Is the kill switch in the ON position?
- If your Motovox is equipped with a key, is it in the ON position?
- If your Motovox is equipped with a fuel shutoff valve, is it in the RUN or OPEN position?
- Remove the spark plug and see if it is in good working condition. To do so, refer to your owners manual or find the Spark Plug video in the Maintenance Videos section of your model on this website. Or contact us at 888-488-6686 for help.
- Check to be sure that your fuel line is not clogged. To do so, refer to your owners manual or find the Fuel Line video in the Maintenance Videos section of your model on this website. Or contact us at 888-488-6686 for help.
8. The engine oil in my Motovox was low when I checked it, right out of the box.
Maintaining the engine oil is the single most important thing you can do to keep your Motovox running a good long time. We put oil in the crankcase of each one at the factory when we test start them, but you don't want to count on the oil being at the proper level or in perfect condition. Metal shavings or "slag" can remain inside your crankcase from when it was built and cause problems down the line. It is strongly recommended that you change your oil after the first 2 hours of operation and replace it with a good quality 10w30 motor oil (excludes the MVs10 stand up scooter which does not have crankcase oil).
